… also Tim Burton may have p*ss poor knowledge of London geography!

The London papers had an absolute blast today taking the mickey out of the new Tim Burton and Johnny Depp movie ‘Sweeney Todd’, for having the outright arrogance to rewrite history and move Fleet Street across London (WTF).

The now infamous movie poster features Depp’s characted, Todd, sitting in a darkened room with the London landmark Big Ben clearly visible in the window behind (circled below). Now… the scandal is that the film is set in the early 19th century, 50 years before the clock was built! Fans all over the world spotted the blooper and after massive protests, the poster was scrapped (yay).

In addition to that, one clever commenter on This Is London’s website pointed out that even if the clock were around at the time, the film is firmly based in Fleet Street… the clock would never have been visible from that part of London anyway.

A spoiler/ interview footage of Sweeny Todd can be seen here.
