I just peeled myself off of my couch after watching the Grammys (I don’t have cable, I have to straggle and either watch it online or the next day).
My favourite performances were:
- Alicia Keys performing ‘No one’ (even though she was stomping around like a crazy person),
- Kanye West and Daft Punk, who performed ‘Stronger’. This was apparently Daft Punk’s first ever live performance and they rocked my world. The performance was outstanding and the neon visuals were like nothing I have ever seen before,
- Beyonce’s intro to the Tina Turner duet was really good, although the duet itself bored me rigid,
- Lastly, Amy Winehouse jiggling away like a little demon to ‘Rehab’.
My single favourite moment though, was not a musical one. It was the moment Amy Winehouse won ‘Record of The Year’. She clearly was not paying attention as the nominees were being read out. She turned her head to talk to her band as her name was read. She was declared the winner and clearly was caught, startled, and shocked mid-conversation and it clearly took a couple of seconds to realise that she had won. There was a really touching, sweet, and sincere reaction of shock and then joy, as she celebrated her victory with her band mates and parents.
