Jay-Z

Ooooh, dah critics were proven wrong. JAY-Z spanked some arse and took names at the Glastonbury festival 2008 [Website - TheLostGirl’s Blog].

He started his set with a cover of ‘Wonderwall‘ by Oasis, as a middle finger to his very vocal critic, NOEL GALLAGHER — guitarist and chief songwriter for Oasis – who earlier this week stated that poor ticket sales were soley down to a hip-hop headliner:

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” GALLAGHER complained back in April. “If you start to break it, then people aren’t going to go. I’m sorry, but JAY-Z? No chance.”

Universal has let it be known that, effective end of year, Jay-Z will no longer be the head of its Def Jam Records unit. Shawn ‘Jay-Z’ Carter, has been president since 2005, signing artists such as Rihanna and Ne-Yo. Universal have stated that Jay-Z will continue to record under ‘Roc-A-Fella’, but did not give a reason for his stepping down as head.

Jay-Z says of the decision:

“Now it’s time for me to take on new challenges,” he said in a statement. “I am pleased to have had the opportunity to build upon the Def Jam legacy,” he added.

Oh dear, Bey seems top have made an uh oh wearing this cute little get up, whilst hanging with Jay-z. The NSFW pic, sneekily taken recently, shows her seemingly in mid conversation unaware that she has (ahem) fallen out of her top!

Jay-Z has pissed people off by dissin’ the almighty dollar in favour of the Euro in his new video for ”Blue Magic”, a single from the Denzel Washington/ Russell Crow movie, American Gangster. It is not entirely clear if he is following the trend started by Gisele, or if he has some ulterior motive for flashing Euro’s. He only does it briefly but the Euro is clearly visible, so he was trying to piss off someone. Perhaps Jay-Z is biggin’ up the now almighty Euro, which the last time I checked 1.00 USD was worth 0.682660 EUR. Who knew Jay-Z was a budding economist?

Update 19 Nov 2007 For those who are interested, the clearest shot can be seen 51 seconds in (and is briefly flashed again 2 minutes 9 seconds in).

Bossip reports that Today is the day for two particularly Kick ass magazine covers.

Firstly, Jay-Z is on the cover of Rolling Stone. Also, Mary J. Blige is on the cover for The Advocate and speaks about gay fans and homophobia in hip hop.

I found this amazing clip of Jay-z performing a track from the American Gangster movie soundtrack (live). I have been listening to Jay-z since I was in high school, and what can I say, the guy still floors me. CRAZY TALENT Y’ALL!!!!!!!!!!!
